The solar market has grown far beyond the cottage industry of yesterday and into the mainstream of high technology manufacturing.  This transition has been fueled by the insatiable and growing demand for clean and renewable energy across the globe.  As demand for soar power continues to accelerate, the needs of the successful manufacturers grow as well.  Solar manufacturing is now as demanding of high technology integrated solutions as the more mature semiconductor and data storage markets. 

In order to achieve lowest product cost simultaneously with the highest product quality, the modern Solar Fab must focus equally on availability and throughput while minimizing waste for both yield loss and imbalance.  In the first phase of solar industry growth; many producers of individual process steps would add to their offering to provide a turnkey solution.  In the growth to come, it will be the effectiveness of the Fab as an integrated unit, and the efficiency of this integration that will define success.
